Our Mission:
Our Department is the earliest Department of Cell Biology in Latin America. Our activities are focused on three major aims:
- Research on Cell Biology, related to different topics such as structure, physiology, molecular biology, cell-cell interactions, and cell-environment relationships, among others.
- Prepare and train new generations of researchers with the highest qualifications and skills in Cell Biology, through our two graduate programs: Ph.D. and MSc. Fellows graduated in our Department will have the capacity to carry out research, and become part of any research institution or university in the world.
- To generate new developments in biotechnology, vaccines or some other technologies with high impact in society or in industry.
Social and Professional Commitment:
Our department is engaged in preparing new professionals with skills of the highest level. We reach this goal through our graduate programs:
- Master of Science degree (MSc) with the specialty in Cell Biology.
- Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) with specialty in Cell Biology.
International Level of Excellence:
The National Council for Science and Technology from Mexico (Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología, CONACyT) has awarded both graduate programs with an international level of competence.
The department of Cell Biology has graduated more students in this field than any other institution in Mexico. We have graduated 368 students from our graduate programs.
